In 1993, Professor Janusz Filipiak from AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow decided to go into business and started a company. Today, this company employs over 5,400 individuals in 26 countries including almost 3,000 specialists in Krakow alone. This company is Comarch– An IT business services and software provider.
With its headquarters in Krakow Technology Park, the Comarch Campus is an impressive 7 building complex demonstrating a growing and innovative enterprise. The newest building “SSE6” debuted in 2016 and is an outstanding example of modern architecture with its agglomeration of tectonic forms, crisp glass, and colorful nighttime illumination. Equally inventive is the new work going on the inside.
On February 8th, 2017, Comarch officially celebrated the opening of its newest investment, the “Internet of Things Lab.” The all-in-one research-development-production facility can take a product idea from concept all the way through prototype in areas like smart lighting and telemedicine. The new “IoT lab” gives Comarch an unprecedented capacity to provide a full spectrum services and solutions in-house. The brilliantly white room hummed with complex machinery operated by technicians in lab coats, a new generation of scientists, implanting the internet in objects.
The opening of the “IoT lab” was not just a celebration for Comarch but also for Krakow and the Małopolska region. Local government leaders stepped to the microphone and spoke with pride and pleasure of Comarch’s homegrown success and its ongoing achievement. Even Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz attended to perform a blessing of the laboratory.
Comarch is also a major sponsor of Krakow’s soccer team Cracovia.
